In the course of July 29 our forces continued to advance north-west and west of REZEKNE (REZHITSA), seizing more than 400 settlements, including such large settlements as ZAGATAS, MAKUZI, MOLNIEKI, RUDZETI and RUSINI, as well as the VARAKLANI and GALBARI railroad stations.
Our forces seized the Latvian SSR district center ILUKSTE west of DAUGAVPILS
(DVINSK) and the Lithuanian SSR district center ZARASAI. They also seized more
than 70 other settlements, including SKRUDELINA, PAGRENDZINY, SMELINE,
PETRUNISKI, SAVLI and DEGUCIAI.
Our forces continued to advance north-east and east of SIAULIAI, seizing more
than 200 settlements. Their list includes such large settlements as POPUVESIAI,
VASKAI, PASVITINIS, ELEJA and ZAGARE.
Our forces continued to advance west and south-west of UKMERGE, seizing
IONAVA, as well as more than 100 other settlements, among them such large
settlements as SATY, BUKANCE, ZEIMY, DARGUZY and UZUSALI KORMYALOV (nine km
north-east of KAUNAS), as well as the LEIBISKI, POGELOZE, ILGOBRODY, IONAVA,
KOLNYANCY, GULBINISKI and ZEIMIAI railroad stations.
Our forces seized more than 80 settlements west and south-west of GRODNO,
including such large settlements as STAROKAMENKA, DOMBROWA, RESZKOWCE, NOWA
WOLYA, MALOWISTA, POKOSNA, CZERWONKA, JANOW, TEOLIN, and CZARNA WES, as well as
the KAMENNA NOWA and CZARNA WES railroad stations.
Our forces successfully mopped up an encircled enemy formation west of BREST,
advancing and seizing such settlements as KLEINIKI, NEPLE, SAMOWICZE, LOBACZOW,
KURZAWKA, KOROSZCZIN and LENGI. The enemy made desperate attempts to break out,
but to no avail. All enemy attacks were repulsed, with the Germans losing
heavily in men and equipment.
Our forces completely mopped up the VISTULA river’s eastern bank south of
DEMBLIN all the way to the mouth of the SAN river, seizing more than 150
settlements.
Our forces continued to advance north-west and west of PRZEMYSL, seizing more
than 200 settlements, including such large settlements as GREMBOW, WYDZA,
BOJANOW, WOLJA RANIZOWSKA, LIPNICA, MAZURY, WYSOKA, STOBERNA, GUSOW and DYNOW,
as well as the ROGUZNO, ZAGURZE, JAWORNIK-POLSKI and DYNOW railroad
stations.
Our forces continued to advance south-west and south of LVOV, seizing a
Lvov-region district center and railroad station SZIREC, DROGOBYCH-region
district centers and railroad stations NIKOLAYEV and KHODOROV, as well as more
than 100 other settlements, among them such large settlements as CHISZCZEWICY,
CZULOWICZI, DOBRZANY, ROZDOL and ZIDECZOW, as well as the SZIREC, CZRKASS and
ZIDECZOW railroad stations.
Our forces seized a Stanislav-region district center and railroad station
ROZNYATOW, as well as more than 20 other settlements, including TUZILOW,
SWARYCZOW, STRUTYN, CENIAWA and JASENOWEC.
No major developments were reported elsewhere on the front.
During July 28 our forces disabled and destroyed 92 German tanks on all
fronts. A total of 60 German aircraft were downed in aerial combat and by
anti-aircraft guns.
